LOCAL IMMERSION PROGRAMME

The Local Immersion Programme is a key part of the CM Bana Kaih Innovation Challenge, designed to engage students in real-world problem-solving for sustainable development. This initiative integrates student-led innovation with grassroots planning to localize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the village level.
Through three core components—Leadership Development Training, Local Immersion and Intervention, Symposium—students will gain hands-on experience in community engagement, project development, and policy formulation.

Mizofreshfarmers is an e-commerce platform dedicated to delivering the freshest, highest-quality pineapple products from Tawipui South directly to consumers. We work closely with local farmers, ensuring they receive fair prices while promoting sustainable farming and reducing wastage.

Beyond fresh pineapples, we offer pineapple juice, jam, and frozen pineapple, providing more value to both farmers and customers.

OUR STORY

Mizofreshfarmers was created to bridge the gap between local pineapple farmers in Tawipui South and consumers seeking fresh, high-quality produce. Despite the region’s fertile land and ideal climate, farmers often struggle to access larger markets, relying on middlemen who reduce their earnings.

To address this, we launched Mizofreshfarmers as an online platform where farmers can sell their produce directly, ensuring fair prices and a stable livelihood. By eliminating intermediaries, we empower farmers financially and promote sustainable agriculture. Our goal is to support local farmers, preserve traditional farming practices, and provide consumers with the freshest pineapples straight from the source.

Soil Suitability for Pineapple Cultivation

The soil analysis shows the following key parameters:
pH Level: 5.3 (Suitable; Pineapple thrives in 4.5 – 6.5).
Organic Carbon (OC): 3.10% (High; beneficial for soil fertility).
Available Nitrogen (N): 37.60 kg/ha (Low; requires supplementation).
Available Phosphorus (P): 8.60 kg/ha (Adequate; within the required range).
Available Potassium (K): 125.60 kg/ha (Moderate; should be increased for better fruit quality).

Conclusion & Recommendations:
The soil is generally suitable for pineapple cultivation, but nitrogen and potassium levels need improvement. Organic matter is sufficient, contributing to soil health. To optimize growth, apply additional nitrogen fertilizers and increase potassium supply for better fruit yield and quality.

FOUNDER’S STORY

Mizofreshfarmers was founded as part of the CM Bana Kaih Innovation Challenge, an initiative encouraging students to support rural development. As HATIM College students, we chose Tawipui South after identifying a major issue—farmers struggled to market their pineapples despite high production. Due to limited access to larger markets, many pineapples went unsold, leading to financial losses.

To solve this, we created Mizofreshfarmers, an online platform that connects farmers directly with buyers, ensuring fair prices and reducing dependence on middlemen. Beyond selling fresh pineapples, we also produce and market:

Pineapple Juice Fresh, natural, and preservative-free.
Pineapple JamSweet, and flavorful.
Frozen PineappleConvenient, ready-to-use fruit chunks.
By adding value to their produce, we help farmers increase profits, reduce waste, and expand their reach. Mizofreshfarmers is more than a business—it’s a mission to empower farmers and promote sustainable agriculture in Tawipui South.

FUTURE PLANS

At Mizofreshfarmers, our current focus is on Tawipui South’s pineapples, ensuring that local farmers have a stable and profitable market. By providing direct access to consumers, we are helping them sell their produce at fair prices and reduce wastage. However, our vision extends far beyond just one village.
In the future, we plan to expand our reach across Mizoram, sourcing pineapples from various villages known for their high-quality produce. This expansion will not only benefit more farmers but also create new opportunities for developing a wider range of pineapple-based products. With increased production and access to more raw materials, we aim to explore new ways to process and preserve pineapples, turning them into innovative and value-added products.
By growing our network of farmers and diversifying our product line, we hope to establish Mizoram as a major hub for premium pineapple production. Our long-term goal is to promote the region’s rich agricultural heritage, support rural economies, and bring Mizoram’s best pineapples to a broader market.
